Army of Women® The Army of Women® is a unique and important facet of the Foundation's effort to end breast cancer.
Most basic research in breast cancer is done on animals. But what we
learn from animals doesn't always translate into how cancer develops in
humans. One way we could learn more about breast cancer is by studying
human breast fluid. This fluid is easy to obtain, and it holds a wealth
of data. But it is very difficult for researchers to obtain to all of
the breast fluid necessary to conduct significant research studies.
Love's Army® is the volunteer arm of the Foundation.
The Dr. Susan Love Research Foundation relies on an incredible cadre of
volunteers. Our mission is simple: to eradicate breast cancer within
our lifetime. But we can't do it without your help.
Love's
Army generates awareness about the Foundation's research programs and
assists with our fundraising efforts. For those women and men who live
in the Los Angeles area, there are other volunteer opportunities
available as well.

Banking ductal fluid is costly, which is why we have developed a new, innovative approach to getting researchers the fluid they need
The Dr. Susan Love Research Foundation intends to recruit an Army of Women—one million women nationwide—who would be willing to donate ductal fluid for research. These volunteers would donate fluid as researchers need it, giving researchers a consistent, stable source of fluid to study.
How would it work? Scientists would contact the Foundation and supply information about their research and their need for ductal fluid. The Foundation’s Scientific Advisory Board would screen these scientists’ requests. Scientists who have their requests approved would be linked with Army of Women volunteers in their area who are available to donate ductal fluid.
By connecting volunteers to researchers, the Foundation will close a gap in the research process that has impeded investigative efforts, bringing us one step closer to preventing and eradicating breast cancer in our lifetimes.
If you live in the Los Angeles area, volunteer opportunities are already available. Our Foundation is currently conducting a pilot study on the normal breast, and we are actively looking for women who are willing to donate ductal fluid for this study. To learn more about how you can volunteer for the Normal Breast Study, please email us here.
If you live outside of the LA area, volunteer opportunities will soon be available. The Foundation is currently raising the necessary funds to plan, develop, market, and manage a national Army of Women. If you are interested in being notified when the Army of Women is up and running, please email us here.
