The mission of the Dr. Susan Love Research Foundation is to end breast cancer within our lifetime and to better the lives of women by generating resources and innovation for education, research, and advocacy on breast cancer and other women's health issues. The Dr. Susan Love Research Foundation works to keep administrative and fundraising expenses to less than 24%. As a result, our corporate partners and sponsors can feel confident that the support they provide to our Foundation will go to the work that they feel passionate about. By supporting the Dr. Susan Love Research Foundation, you are contributing to the sustenance and growth of our three primary programs:
- Pilot Funding for Novel Intraductal Research: Our Foundation believes that the intraductal approach to breast research is what will vault us to a new level of success in preventing and eradicating breast cancer. That is why we focus our own research efforts on this approach. And it is why we provide pilot grants to researchers who are using the intraductal approach to expand our knowledge of the breast and breast cancer risk assessment, prevention, detection, and treatment. Since 1998, the Foundation has awarded more that $800,000 in research grants to 31 scientists at major institutions throughout the world. All of these researchers are conducting innovative research that is utilizing the intraductal approach to advance our understanding of the breast and breast cancer risk-assessment, prevention, detection and treatment. You can learn more about our research portfolio here.
- Exploration of the Normal Breast: The Dr. Susan Love Research Foundation is currently using the intraductal approach to study the normal breast. By expanding our understanding of the normal breast, we will be better positioned to learn how to reverse early cancerous changes and to identify early cellular changes and genetic markers linked to breast cancer development. You can learn more about the Foundation's research on the normal breast here.
- Education and Advocacy: The Dr. Susan Love Research Foundation is committed to educating the public about breast cancer risk assessment, detection, prevention, and treatment. This work is carried out through our website, our Symposium and Think Tanks, and Dr. Love's speaking engagements. Our Foundation is also involved in advocacy efforts for expanded breast cancer research funding and for programs that will ensure all individuals have access to free or low-cost breast cancer screening and high-quality treatment.
