The Dr. Susan Love Research Foundation gives out pilot grants to jumpstart innovative research and to encourage scientists to pursue the intraductal approach. Grants are made through a novel approach, with applicants presenting their proposals at the Foundation's biennial International Symposium on the Intraductal Approach to Breast Cancer.
A multidisciplinary Peer Review Committee composed of basic scientists, breast cancer activists, and surgeons listens to the presentations at the Symposium, reviews the grant proposals, and decides who will receive the pilot grant awards and the amount of each award. Decisions are based on the scientific merit and relevance to the Foundation's mission and goals—exploiting intraductal access to better understand, prevent, and treat breast cancer.
